There are plenty of ways to cut a watermelon, and honestly, it’s not that tricky to handle. But recently, the internet went wild after a YouTuber came up with a crazy new method. This guy, who seems to have some kind of grudge against watermelons, built an automatic watermelon slicing machine that doesn’t need any muscle power but uses a whopping 6,000 volts of electricity.

The YouTuber, known as PJ, graduated from the University of Tsukuba and is currently starting a company focused on electronics and coding experiments. But finding that a bit dull, he recently entered a contest called the “Watermelon Cutting Competition” and decided to build a special machine for the job. His invention is basically a stand that delivers 6,000 volts of electricity.

At first glance, the machine looks pretty simple, but when the experiment started, the results shocked many viewers. Once the watermelon was charged with 6,000 volts, it suddenly turned purple, then cracks started to appear. Bright purple light began leaking from the cracks, and then the watermelon exploded, sending pieces flying up to 10 meters away.

The entire watermelon then shattered and scattered everywhere. The end result? PJ and his audience were left with no watermelon to eat, and the stage was swarmed by ants that were a nightmare to clean up.
From one perspective, the experiment did succeed in cutting the watermelon. The problem is, it’s way too dangerous and definitely not a practical way to enjoy your fruit.
