Even before its release, League of Legends: Wild Rift has made a big splash among gamers worldwide, including in Vietnam. Thanks to this buzz, many gamers and YouTubers have jumped on the bandwagon to “grab views and subs” for their channels.

Recently, one such post annoyed the gaming community with the way this YouTuber “baited” viewers with a video titled “Will Wild Rift fall into the same trap as its predecessor when facing Arena of Valor?” Right at the start, the YouTuber bluntly said, “Wild Rift has no chance of overthrowing Arena of Valor,” which rubbed many gamers the wrong way.

Many gamers felt the video deliberately put down other MOBA games, including Wild Rift, to promote Arena of Valor. The YouTuber faced a flood of backlash with comments calling it “cheap sub bait” and “seeding drama.” To stir up more engagement, the YouTuber went on to say:
“People are hyping Wild Rift way too much, but when it actually fails, they’ll be shocked. Sure, Riot backs it and it has a huge user base, but its higher difficulty means it probably won’t attract as many players as Arena of Valor. Instead, it’s likely to appeal only to a niche group who like that style. Plus, many players already used to playing League on PC might try Wild Rift at launch but won’t stick around long since PC is their real passion.

On the flip side, Arena of Valor was designed from the start for mobile users, so it naturally has a larger and more loyal mobile player base. The question is, when Wild Rift launches, how long will Arena of Valor players stick around before returning? Given the higher difficulty, most will likely go back quickly. Don’t forget, even big names like Marvel have failed before.”

With language like this, it’s no surprise the YouTuber got heavily criticized by the gaming community. Interestingly, despite the clickbait approach, the video only got 697 views after two days, proving that no matter how much you try to stir the pot, quality content is what truly keeps viewers coming back.
