Recently, in a surprising move, Vingroup officially announced it will stop researching and producing TVs and smartphones to fully focus on VinFast. This means users will no longer see any new smartphone or TV models under the Vsmart brand.
The decision to end Vingroup’s smartphone and TV divisions is to concentrate all efforts on VinFast. Specifically, VinSmart will shift to developing smart features for vehicles and homes, including infotainment systems for VinFast cars. Additionally, Vingroup will focus on researching, designing, and producing electronic components, battery cells, complete battery systems, and various electric motors to increase localization and ensure high-quality supply for VinFast.
“Producing smartphones or smart TVs no longer offers breakthrough potential or unique value for users. Meanwhile, developing especially smart cars, smart homes, and even building smart cities will bring many benefits and outstanding experiences to humanity. Therefore, we are determined to put all resources into this key area,” said Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice Chairman and CEO of Vingroup.

Users will no longer see new Vsmart smartphone models.
Besides VinFast, Vingroup is also focusing on Smart City, Smart Home, and IoT devices.
Although no new phone or TV models will be developed, current models will continue production until the end of their lifecycle to supply the market. Afterwards, part of the factory will be used for contract manufacturing for partners, while the rest will be expanded and adjusted to produce new products.
According to VinSmart, existing phones and TVs will continue to receive warranty and after-sales support “until customers no longer use the products.” VinSmart will also have a dedicated team responsible for upgrading and updating software for Vsmart phones already sold.
