Known in the gaming community for her fiery looks and bubbly personality, streamer and YouTuber Sandy (real name Hứa Vân San) recently shocked fans by revealing she almost lost nearly 20 million VND to a scam involving a fake “help my grandma” emergency.
She shared the story herself in an anti-scam awareness video.

According to her, while active on social media, Sandy got to know a man online who seemed respectable, charming, and knew how to win her trust.
They often chatted and shared personal stories, building a sense of closeness and trust. But after about a month, he suddenly messaged Sandy urgently, claiming his grandmother had been in a traffic accident and was in the hospital needing around 20 million VND for medical bills.
At first, the beautiful streamer felt sympathy and wanted to help. But something felt off, so she hesitated, saying she didn’t have enough money. Still, the man begged desperately, even crying and pleading for Sandy to borrow money from friends or family to help him through the crisis.

“At that moment, I really started to waver, feeling sorry for him and thinking maybe it was true,” Sandy recalled. Luckily, her family and friends spotted the red flags in time and advised her not to send money, suspecting it was a scripted scam. When Sandy said she couldn’t help, the man immediately flipped, cursed her, blocked contact, and revealed his true colors. Sandy’s case isn’t unique. Common online scams today include fake investment schemes, online shopping fraud, impersonating acquaintances, and especially romance scams.

Sandy’s story is a powerful reminder: in the virtual world, a moment of kindness can cost you more than you imagine.
