Yesterday, VTV24 news center shared a heartbreaking story about a 13-year-old gamer. According to VTV24, the incident happened because the boy was upset that his father didn’t buy him a phone after the school year ended as promised, leading the child to ingest pesticide.
Fortunately, the young gamer survived despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He showed signs of drowsiness, confusion, bluish skin, weak breathing, excessive mucus, and pupils constricted to about 1mm. VTV commented, “This serves as a reminder for parents to control their words when angry, especially with teenagers who are in a sensitive age. Such moments can deeply hurt children and lead to negative thoughts.”
The case sparked heated debates online. Some comments criticized the young gamer for being reckless and impulsive. However, most opinions pointed out that the adults involved also played a significant role in this unfortunate event.
“If you promise to buy something, you should follow through. Otherwise, don’t make promises to your kids. Children always believe their parents’ words. When I was in second grade, my mom promised to buy me a musical instrument if I did well in school, but when I achieved it, she refused, saying the teacher helped me. Since then, I stopped trusting her promises. Now that I have kids, I only promise what I can deliver,” commented a Facebook user.
Other comments said, “Both sides are at fault. Parents made promises they didn’t keep, and the child is still immature and impulsive at this age.” “True, if you say you’ll buy something and don’t, how can you teach your child? But the child is also to blame.” “If you promise, you have to keep it. Kids this age are very impulsive.”
