On July 25, Le Trung Chinh, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People’s Committee, announced that local police recently uncovered 21 more cases of Chinese nationals illegally entering and residing in Da Nang.
“These individuals have been immediately quarantined at their residences,” said Chinh.
According to Chinh, the discovery came during a citywide inspection focusing on places with high numbers of foreign residents. Da Nang has now identified a total of 52 Chinese nationals who entered illegally and “somehow made their way to Da Nang” within just one week.
Regarding handling these illegal entries, Huynh Duc Tho, Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee, assigned the police to quarantine and find suitable facilities for these individuals before proceeding with legal actions. He also instructed the Health Department to coordinate testing and medical checks for the illegal Chinese entrants.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security, revealed that in connection with the smuggling ring bringing Chinese nationals illegally into Da Nang and Quang Nam, Da Nang police have prosecuted three suspects, including two Vietnamese and one Chinese.
Earlier, a group of 30 people was found illegally entering and staying in Da Nang and are currently quarantined. One group is isolated at a hotel in Son Tra district, while five individuals are quarantined at the Ministry of Public Security’s 199 Hospital. All have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Additionally, the Immigration Department of Quang Nam police inspected a guesthouse in Dien Duong ward (Dien Ban town) and found dozens of Chinese nationals staying illegally.
When police arrived, the group scattered and fled, so authorities initially detained only four people. Later, Quang Nam forces searched and gathered 17 more individuals.
