Recently, on a TV show, the star stunned viewers by sharing a memorable story: one of her personal hairs was auctioned off for 3 million yen, which is over 500 million Vietnamese dong at today’s exchange rate.
Yua Mikami revealed this happened while she was at the peak of her career.
One day, while casually browsing online, she spotted a collectible card featuring one of her hairs being sold on an auction site. What shocked her was the starting price was only about 1,000 yen, surprisingly low given her fame at the time. But quickly, the item caught massive attention and the price skyrocketed, finally selling for 3 million yen.
“Even I couldn’t believe it. I wondered, does my hair really have that much value?” Mikami joked. Her half-serious comment quickly went viral on social media, sparking lively discussions and proving just how magnetic she was during her prime.
Born in 1993, Yua Mikami has been an icon in her field for years, with a huge fanbase not just in Japan but also in China, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. In 2023, she shocked fans by announcing her retirement while still at the height of her career. Since then, she’s shifted to other entertainment roles, most recently joining a basketball cheerleading team, keeping her presence strong in the media.
In the same interview, she once again declined to reveal her earnings from her active years, explaining it’s a rule she follows based on her agency’s advice to avoid disrupting income standards in the industry. Notably, when she retired in 2023, she treated herself to a luxury watch worth about 10 million yen as a milestone gift.
