In September 2019, Natalie Brown, a Canadian woman, just wanted to quickly find a recipe before dinner but accidentally uncovered a horrifying secret her boyfriend, Conor Dolan, was hiding.
According to the Daily Mail, Brown typed the letter “f” on Dolan’s laptop hoping to visit the Food Network website, but the browser auto-filled a strange site instead.
Curious, she clicked the link and was immediately stunned to find the site filled with explicit images showing various sexual preferences and fetishes.
What shocked Brown even more was that the logged-in account featured her boyfriend’s profile picture. The profile revealed Dolan’s location, nude photos, and his sexual interests. Even their dog Winston appeared in some pictures.
At the bottom of Dolan’s profile, Brown found a video showing intimate moments between them. While her face wasn’t clearly visible, she instantly recognized her body, their familiar apartment, and their bed.
When confronted, Dolan repeatedly apologized and admitted to uploading the video. He claimed he never intended to humiliate Brown and promised to delete the video and stop using the site.
At first, Brown chose to trust him. But on Christmas night 2019, she found messages from other women on Dolan’s phone, which woke her up to the truth and led her to break up. Despite this, they remained friends and co-parented Winston.
Brown thought it was all behind her until four years later when a male friend told her his girlfriend had used that same site without his consent. Worried, Brown checked if Dolan had really deleted the video.
To her horror, the video was still online, Dolan’s account was active, and even his age information had been updated. She immediately contacted a lawyer and reported it to the police.
Police investigations revealed Dolan reactivated the account in February 2020, and the video had been circulating online for four years. Eventually, after Canada’s Department of Justice and CyberScan got involved, the video was removed from the site.
Still, Brown couldn’t be sure if the video had been saved, shared, or re-uploaded elsewhere, so she decided to press criminal charges against Dolan.
Under Canadian law, Dolan was charged with secretly filming and distributing private images without consent. He initially denied all charges but later admitted to distributing the video during plea negotiations.
Ultimately, the court sentenced Dolan to four months in jail and permanently banned him from contacting Brown. Meanwhile, Brown endured years of anxiety and fear, with serious impacts on her career and social life.
Despite everything, she chose to speak out, hoping to raise awareness about the severity of these crimes and push for stronger legal protections for victims.
“My body was seen, judged, and even used for pleasure by strangers for four years. My privacy was stolen, and my life was destroyed. But I hope my pain can bring change,” Brown shared.
