Using a phone while it’s charging is a dangerously common habit that has caused tragic accidents before. Yet people still don’t learn. Recently, a similar sad incident happened to a 54-year-old woman in Thailand.
Her name was Yooyen Saenprasert, living with her husband in their home in Udon Thani, northeast Thailand. Her husband found her body on their bed with the charging cable wrapped around her arm, still plugged into both the phone and the power outlet. Bruises on her right arm suggested she was electrocuted.
Despite attempts to revive Yooyen, medical staff couldn’t save her. She was believed to have died over four hours before her body was found.
At the scene, her husband Praiwan Saenprasert was heartbroken. He said he had bought the smartphone as a birthday gift for her just two days earlier. Praiwan added that Yooyen liked playing mobile games to relax in bed, but they never realized how dangerous it could be to use the phone while it was charging.
Because the circumstances seemed suspicious, Yooyen’s family took her body to the hospital for an autopsy. The funeral will be arranged by the family later.
