More and more people are choosing livestreaming as a part-time job or even a serious full-time career. But with hundreds and thousands of streamers out there, success means keeping your energy up and giving viewers something fun to watch. Otherwise, you risk losing subscribers or ending your stream with no donations. On top of that, there are plenty of ways a stream can go wrong.
We’ve seen streamers accidentally leak personal info on live, or quit mid-game during a broadcast. But probably the most awkward thing that can happen is when a streamer goes live passively, accidentally streaming without even realizing it.
This definitely shouldn’t happen often, but it’s way more common than you might think. Let’s check out some funny, awkward, and downright embarrassing accidental live moments from some well-known streamers.
Ninja Has Fans Worried
One early morning in 2019, Ninja suddenly appeared on stream looking pretty rough. To put it mildly, he seemed like he’d just been woken up from a deep sleep and immediately sat down at his computer with tired eyes and exhaustion written all over his face. Viewers flooded the chat with concerned messages, asking if he was okay or needed to rest. Instead of replying, Ninja just took a few sips of water and kept typing.
It took a moment for Ninja to realize people were messaging him, but once he did, he seemed amused to find out he’d accidentally gone live. With a smile, he told his viewers, “I really didn’t mean to click ‘start streaming.’”
Still half-asleep, Ninja had a good laugh about the whole thing. It was a pretty awkward situation. He had no idea he’d made his fans worry, but it definitely became a memorable moment.
Mizkif Makes Money While Asleep
Mizkif is a talented and hardworking streamer who even managed to appear on stream while sound asleep. Viewers found it hilarious and tried to wake him up, with some sending donations that triggered sounds on his Twitch channel. What finally woke Mizkif was a viewer spamming the number “7” repeatedly. Simple but effective.
Hearing the constant “ting ting ting” sounds, Mizkif snapped awake and reached for his computer. He told his audience, “Yeah, I totally passed out. Like literally knocked out. You woke me up in a pretty scary way.”
Funny as it was, it’s worth noting Mizkif was actually roused by a spammed donation. In other words, he literally made money while sleeping. Pretty epic, right?
Bethesda’s Cringeworthy Live Stream
Bethesda has sparked controversy for years, including with Fallout 76. But one of their biggest blunders came from an accidental live test stream. During rehearsals for their E3 2015 presentation, Bethesda’s Twitch channel went live by mistake. Fans could hear Raph Colantonio, CEO of Dishonored developer Arkane Studios, talking. Some accounts even reported hearing detailed discussions about Dishonored 2 with key Bethesda team members.
All clips from the stream were later taken down due to copyright claims, which basically confirmed Bethesda was going to announce Dishonored 2 at E3 2015. And they did. It’s hard to say much more about this situation other than it was a huge mess and pretty unprofessional.
