Exactly one year ago, many thought the era of Vietnam’s “Top 4 Streamers” was over. ViruSs seemed focused on business and music, PewPew even announced his retirement to concentrate on his shrimp farm and bakery. Meanwhile, Xemesis had slowed down his activities, busy preparing for his wedding. Only Độ Mixi kept regularly streaming.
But no one expected 2020 to mark a strong comeback for all four, filled with memorable milestones and very different emotions.
PewPew
After announcing his retirement and stopping livestreams around mid-2019, many pictured PewPew as a successful businessman, pouring his heart into his bakery and shrimp farm. When he occasionally streamed, he rarely played games, focusing instead on chatting with fans at a slower pace. But surprisingly, at the start of 2020, he made a comeback.
Not only did he return to livestreaming, playing chess and chatting casually, but he also took part in many other activities. Though his follower count and stats didn’t match his peak, PewPew still has a loyal fanbase. Just when 2020 seemed to end on a mixed note, with some controversy after appearing on the game show “Nhanh Như Chớp,” he thrilled fans by teasing his official engagement, sparking excitement for a big wedding next year.
Xemesis
For Xemesis, 2020 was probably the most perfect year. He didn’t stream much or have many highlights, but he scored the biggest win of his life by marrying his bride Xoài Non in a lavish, unforgettable wedding.
His wedding became the biggest event in the streamer community at the end of the year. From engagement to wedding took almost a year, and though he streams less, 2020 will always be a memorable year for Xemesis.
Độ Mixi
The only one still fully dedicated to streaming, Độ Mixi had a year full of highs and lows. He achieved major success, topping Vietnam’s YouTube content creators and becoming one of the country’s most famous streamers. Alongside his career, 2020 brought many new things for him, from welcoming a cute baby to moving into a spacious new villa. His music video “Stream Đến Bao Giờ” also ranked among the top 10 most notable music videos.
While he enjoyed success, he also faced some controversies over his language on stream. He admitted his mistakes and made efforts to improve, which only made fans appreciate him more.
ViruSs
The last piece of this group is ViruSs, who also experienced many emotional moments in 2020.
Career-wise, 2020 had its highlights and challenges. The pandemic hit hard, with his VR Studio in Bangkok struggling and his Hanoi cafe up for sale or transfer. Still, he released notable projects, including collaborations with MC Trấn Thành and singer Thùy Chi, plus many hit songs. His reaction videos gained lots of love but also sparked debates. He also became one of the youngest CMOs at GearVN.
However, 2020 wasn’t perfect for ViruSs. After over five years together, his relationship with Ngân Sát Thủ ended, stirring a lot of online buzz.
