After the first day of competition (May 13), Vietnam’s two Free Fire teams landed in modest positions
The opening day of the Free Fire finals kicked off with a bang, featuring a professional bilingual hosting duo, MC Quang Tho and MC Minh Anh. After introducing the delegates and competing teams, the first match of Free Fire at SEA Games 31 officially began.
With the home ground advantage, VIET NAM 2 started aggressively and quickly gained early leads. However, getting caught up in fights kept VIET NAM 2 from climbing higher on the leaderboard. Playing live in front of hundreds of fans was a double-edged sword for them, serving as both motivation and pressure.
Meanwhile, VIET NAM 1 took a cautious approach, only unleashing their full firepower in the final circles. Still, they revealed weaknesses in close-quarter battles. Facing Indonesia’s dominant form and Thailand’s tricky playstyle, both Vietnamese teams struggled on their road to the medals.
Fans always by their side
With free entry for live viewing, Free Fire attracted a large crowd of passionate fans. Long before matches started, hundreds gathered early, excited and eager to cheer on all teams, especially Vietnam’s representatives.
It was easy to spot many foreign fans coming to support their own teams.
Despite seven consecutive matches, the energy and excitement inside the venue never dropped.
Vietnamese players stay determined despite setbacks
At the end of day one, Indonesia 1 took the top spot with a commanding 139 points. Thailand 1 secured second place with three Booyah! wins, just two points ahead of Indonesia 2. Vietnam 1 and Vietnam 2 placed 10th and 6th respectively.
