As technology advances, people keep finding new ways to make daily tasks easier. Gaming, a huge part of entertainment, is no exception. But have you ever imagined playing games using only voice commands, like how we interact with smartphones or smart appliances?
Recently, a Vietnamese gamer tried playing Teamfight Tactics using the Mouse Grid feature built into Windows 10. This post quickly caught the attention of the gaming community, especially fans of League of Legends and TFT. However, what’s usually called a “luck-based game” turned into a “test of endurance” after using Mouse Grid and voice commands.
While it’s technically possible to play this way, the gamer faced many challenges. From having to activate Mouse Grid after every round to carefully moving the cursor exactly where needed, the process was slow and frustrating. As the clip went on, you could see the player getting more anxious, especially when facing elimination.
Viewers admired his incredible patience, but many pointed out that playing games by voice through Mouse Grid is basically impossible for Vietnamese players. The main issue is the difficulty of pronouncing commands clearly enough for Mouse Grid to recognize. In slower-paced games like TFT, players might manage to adjust commands carefully. But in fast-action games with constant fights, voice control just isn’t practical.
Some also pointed out that the problem might lie with Windows 10’s software itself. Even when commands are pronounced clearly, voice assistants sometimes fail to recognize them properly.
Since this is a default Windows 10 feature, there’s no way to customize it to better suit gamers. In the future, if software supports native languages or allows players to set custom hotkeys for voice commands, gamers worldwide, especially those with disabilities, could enjoy playing by voice much more easily.
