According to the latest update from an Internet service provider (ISP) in Vietnam, the issue with the Asia Pacific Gateway (APG) submarine cable has been fixed and is now fully operational again.
Back in late May, the APG international submarine cable experienced a fault on segment S1.7, causing a complete loss of international Internet capacity from Vietnam on that route. Combined with issues on two other cables, AAG and AAE-1, Vietnamese gamers and the wider online community faced a very challenging period using Internet services.
When APG went down, major Vietnamese ISPs rerouted traffic through other cables. However, this was only a temporary fix and couldn’t restore normal international Internet speeds.
APG is one of Asia’s largest capacity submarine cables, offering bandwidth up to 54 Tbps. It has been in service since December 2016. Its capacity far exceeds that of the AAG cable and helps address the frequent outages caused by AAG.
Now with APG back online along with important cables like AAG and AAE-1, Vietnam’s international Internet connections have returned to normal. Gamers can once again enjoy smooth gameplay and downloads on global platforms like Steam and Epic Games Store.
