According to Ninh Binh provincial police, a female tourist caused a stir on social media after posting multiple stories about supernatural events she claimed to have experienced while traveling in Ninh Binh. The provincial police chief ordered a swift investigation to verify the information and prevent false rumors that could alarm the public and harm the local tourism reputation.

Following the directive, the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Ninh Binh police quickly launched an investigation.

During the investigation, it was confirmed that the tourist, using the Threads account named “Netolatone,” posted numerous stories about mysterious spiritual phenomena. These posts quickly gained massive attention online, with over 52,000 likes and tens of thousands of interactions, sparking controversy and negatively impacting public order and the image of Ninh Binh tourism.

Using coordinated investigative methods, the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department identified the account owner as L.Q.A, residing in Hanoi.

On June 8, 2026, at the police station, L.Q.A admitted to posting a total of 37 stories about encountering spiritual phenomena during her Ninh Binh trip. Many details in her posts were unverified, lacked witnesses, and some were fabricated to make the stories more engaging.

Further verification included interviewing the driver who transported L.Q.A during her trip, Nguyen Manh T, born in 1986 and living in Tay Hoa Lu ward, Ninh Binh. He confirmed there was no vehicle breakdown, no incident of him forcing the tourist off the car, and no waiting with her for an ex-boyfriend pickup as claimed. Additionally, claims about calling the ex-boyfriend or his mother to add a spiritual angle were completely false.

The Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Ninh Binh police working with L.Q.A over false information posts.

After clarifying the facts and receiving guidance on legal regulations about posting false information, L.Q.A removed the posts and promised not to repeat the offense.

Based on legal provisions, the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department issued an administrative fine of 7.5 million VND to L.Q.A for “providing and sharing false, fabricated information causing public confusion,” violating Article 101, Clause 1, Point a of Decree 15/2020/ND-CP (amended by Decree 14/2022/ND-CP).

This case serves as a reminder for the public to be responsible when using social media, verify information before posting or sharing, and avoid spreading false or fabricated content that misleads the public or harms the reputation of individuals or organizations, as such actions will be strictly punished under the law.
