Since early this year, “Ét ô ét” has been everywhere online. Whether it’s rising gold prices, gas hikes, exes inviting to weddings, or funny videos, people slap “Ét ô ét” on it all.
The phrase comes from a TikTok video by Bà Toàn Vlog. When asked if she was being forced, the woman in the clip looked at the camera and said “Ét ô ét, ét ô ét”, which is basically SOS.
Its funny delivery and the context made it perfect for viral clips. Since then, it’s become one of the most popular phrases of 2022.

2. Gét Gô

Also from TikTok, this phrase comes from Tới Trời Thần (@anhtoi4). In one clip, he takes on a “6 days 6 nights” mud challenge and shouts the slogan “Gét gô” to hype himself up.
It’s a playful pronunciation of “Let’s go” in English. That simple phrase turned into a viral catchphrase everyone started using. Many combined it with “thử thách 6 ngày 6 đêm” (6 days 6 nights challenge) for the perfect trend combo.

3. Làm quá nó ô dề

For a while, “ô dề” became a go-to phrase for many netizens. At first, some thought it was a quirky way to say “oh yeah.” But it actually means something that’s over the top or ridiculous.

This sweet compliment praising a girlfriend’s beauty became a trend thanks to TikTok. A guy recorded himself saying, “Turns out spring flowers bloom because of you,” then mixed it with the beat of DJ John’s “You’ll get over it” to make a video for his girlfriend.
The warm voice paired with the catchy beat made it super addictive. People loved it so much they created dances to go with the phrase, making it even more popular.

5. Why so extra!

Many say this was the biggest breakout phrase of 2022. It didn’t start on TikTok but became super popular in the second half of the year.

6. Hé lô bà dà, surprised yet?

This phrase comes from a TikToker called “EYEIYAGI bất ổn.” The clip features a funny character who greets with “hello bà già” (hello old lady) in a charming way. Viewers started commenting “surprised yet, old lady?” and it caught on.

7. Hê sờ lô hơ sờ ly ly

This quirky phrase is from the character Trung “trâu,” played by Duy Hưng in the TV drama Ga-ra hạnh phúc. Trung is a funny, kind guy who speaks in a unique way by adding “sờ” sounds after words.
“Hê sờ lô hơ sờ ly ly” is a playful twist on “Hello honey.” Because of his English struggles and habit of adding “sờ,” the phrase sounds weird but hilarious, making it a viral hit.

8. Mai Đẹt-ti-ni

9. Ú òa

“Ú òa” isn’t new, it’s a traditional hide-and-seek call often used with kids. But it went viral thanks to MONO’s hit song Waiting for you.
Combined with his dance moves and expressions, “ú òa” became a meme all his own. Most people can’t get the catchy line “But it’s bitter to know… ú òa… I’m just the one who came later” out of their heads.

10. Bing Chilling

This phrase made it to the top of Google’s most searched terms in 2022! It’s a famous meme worldwide but recently blew up again in Vietnam.
