Bosses are designed to challenge players and give them the thrill of victory when defeated. But bosses don’t always get taken down by players. Sometimes, they get wiped out by even scarier bosses.
Here’s part two of the top 10 powerful bosses who killed other bosses in games. Check it out.
Joker – Batman: Arkham Origins

Even though all villains share the goal of killing Batman, that doesn’t mean they won’t kill each other. In Gotham, besides money, villains sometimes just want to crush each other to prove who’s the top dog. One of the most memorable boss fights between bosses in the Batman series is Joker killing Lester Buchinsky, aka Electrocutioner.

Electrocutioner was one of eight assassins hired by Black Mask, the main villain disguised by Joker, to kill Batman. But because Electrocutioner broke the deal and acted arrogantly, Joker kicked him out a high-rise window. He died instantly on impact.
Alex Mercer – Prototype 2
Alex Mercer started as an antihero but turned into a ruthless enemy in Prototype 2, facing off against the main character James Heller.
Mercer is the living embodiment of the Blacklight virus. He infects certain people in Gentek and Blackwatch, turning them into powerful beings like himself. Though Heller is one of these, he opposes Mercer because Mercer killed his wife and daughter.

In Prototype 2, you face “evolved” bosses, making battles intense. Near the end, in the Red Zone where the virus originated, Mercer waits for Heller with a terrifying plan. He absorbs all the evolved beings he created, combining their powers to become an insanely powerful boss. This fight frustrated many players but made sense since Mercer now had the strength of all those bosses combined.

Red Hood, Batman: Arkham Knight (2015)
Jason Todd, aka Red Hood, first appears in the Arkhamverse as the mysterious Arkham Knight. When Todd reveals himself, he swaps his goggles for a sleek mask. Instead of a straightforward boss fight, you must survive several smaller battles, evade his sight, and reach his hiding spot. Todd disappears, only returning at the end to help Batman after reconsidering his choices.

In the Red Hood DLC, you explore Jason Todd’s solo crime-fighting past. Todd is rough around the edges and fights head-on rather than strategizing like Batman. He hunts down Black Mask, a boss from the main game, and throws him out a window to his death. Todd clearly doesn’t hesitate to kill.

Maester Seymour, Final Fantasy X
JRPGs usually make it clear who’s good and who’s evil from the start. Seymour Guado, a Maester of the Yevon religion, is a powerful and somewhat strange character. He’s definitely a villain. You fight him three times throughout the story, and each time he’s tougher. Yet he constantly tries to convince players he’s on their side.

Right after meeting Seymour, the main party faces a giant monster called Sinspawn Gui, which looks like a centipede. At first, you fight it alone, but when it weakens, Seymour steps in with magic to help. He only helps because it benefits him. Theoretically, your party could finish off Sinspawn, but Seymour is so powerful it’s more likely he’ll land the killing blow.

Biolizard/FinalHazard, Sonic Adventure 2 (2001)
One Ultimate Life Form wasn’t enough. Sonic Adventure 2’s final stage features a second monster linked to a space station with the power to destroy a planet. Biolizard was created by Dr. Gerald Robotnik (grandfather of Sonic’s nemesis Dr. Eggman) as an experimental version of Shadow the Hedgehog.

This monster was abandoned at the ARK space station for years. When Eggman reactivates the station, Biolizard returns to wreak havoc. In Hero mode, you fight Shadow twice. At the end, Shadow and Sonic team up, using Chaos Emeralds to defeat FinalHazard (Biolizard’s second form). The final battle drains all of Shadow’s energy, causing him to fall to Earth and accept his fate.
