Recently, TikTok users and the online community have been annoyed by a clip reviewing the Sa Bi Chuong restaurant by the streamer trio Do Mixi, PewPew, and Xemesis. It wouldn’t be a big deal if this TikToker hadn’t started the review with a provocative style that seemed designed to stir up drama.
At the start of the clip, the TikToker says, “Finally, this day has come. Honestly, this is the place I’m most hesitant to review because there are so many immature fans here! But I’m scared of…” Yet, the rest of the video doesn’t really deliver any real punch, as the TikToker still ends up praising Sa Bi Chuong.
TikTok users are probably familiar with this kind of “whitewashing” content style. It means opening with a statement that annoys viewers, but then the rest of the video shifts to a positive or complimentary tone. Still, no matter how they try to soften it, people end up disliking this kind of clickbait tactic.
Not long ago, another TikToker named No O No faced backlash for using a similar content approach. Viewers didn’t care about the video’s overall message or the creator’s intentions. Just one provocative opening line was enough to make everyone uncomfortable. And the fallout for No O No was obvious.
The goal for these TikTokers is simple: get views. But using crude language to spark drama and grab attention will definitely come with negative consequences. Creating wholesome, respectful content is what really deserves respect, but unfortunately, this TikToker chose not to go that route.
