Taking on crazy challenges to earn donations is nothing new for streamers these days. Some go as far as doing wild, controversial stunts just to get more money. But Kang-pae’s story is a bit different. No one dared to challenge him, yet this streamer boldly pulled off an act that made many think he was throwing a tantrum.
In the video, Kim Kang-pae promised to keep his word from the previous stream. He headed to a path next to a river still covered with ice. While viewers were stunned, he shocked them even more by stripping off his warm clothes and stepping into the freezing water. That day in Seoul, the temperature hovered around -6 degrees Celsius, with lows near -3.
What’s even more surprising is that Kang-pae said he wouldn’t get out until he received 10,000 star balloons (AfreecaTV’s donation currency worth about 20 million VND). But the viewers’ response left him disappointed. After 6 minutes in the water, despite his constant pleas, he only got about 2,000 star balloons, just 10% of his goal. Luckily, a kind fan sent an extra 4,000 balloons to support him through the cold.
After reaching his target, Kang-pae suddenly changed his mind. He claimed 10,000 star balloons, or 20 million VND, wasn’t enough. He wanted to double the amount and refused to get out unless he got 40 million VND. Of course, that was a long shot, but thankfully a fellow streamer came to his rescue by sending balloons, helping him keep his promise.
Kang-pae stayed in the water for a total of 12 minutes. When he finally got out, he showed signs of distress like a pale face and trembling, even twisting his tongue. Luckily, no serious health issues were reported.
