Once they hit fame, streamers can make huge money from streaming platforms, donations, and brand deals.
Jack Doherty, a well-known streamer and YouTuber, is one of those guys. He didn’t hesitate to flaunt his wealth by treating himself to a custom McLaren 570S worth around $200,000 (nearly 5 billion VND). But recently, Jack ended up smashing his supercar and, more importantly, destroying his main source of income during a livestream gone wrong.
Earlier this month, Jack was live streaming while sitting in his pricey McLaren 570S. But streaming meant he couldn’t fully focus on driving as he kept checking his phone, texting, and adjusting settings. That distraction, combined with slippery road conditions, caused him to lose control. He crashed into the guardrail on the highway’s right side and nearly collided with other cars.
Luckily, the streamer walked away unharmed.
The expensive car was totaled, but Jack’s troubles didn’t stop there. Kick, the streaming platform he used, announced they were terminating his contract and banning him for life. Fans trying to visit his livestream page now only see a 404 Error message. Many criticized Jack for recklessly using his phone while driving live. Even after the crash, he asked bystanders to film the scene for future video content.
It’s unclear what the future holds for Jack, but this will definitely be a hard lesson. Unfortunately for him, the lifetime ban means he won’t get a chance to make things right.
