Traveling nearly 10,000 km from Los Angeles, California to Seoul, then heading straight up to Namsan Tower to cut off her love lock with her ex, 23-year-old Korean woman Kassie Yeung is making waves on social media.

In a viral TikTok video with millions of views, Kassie shares her journey from the US, showing scenes from the airport, her landing, and then heading straight to a store to buy scissors.
Next, she takes a bus to Namsan Tower, buys a ticket, and rides the cable car up to where thousands of colorful love locks hang. After more than 30 minutes, she finds her own lock among the crowd and cuts it off.
Namsan Tower (also called N Seoul Tower) is similar to Paris’s Pont des Arts bridge, famous for fences covered in colorful locks symbolizing lasting love. Kassie and her ex placed their lock there in summer 2019. Now that they’ve broken up, she returned to remove it.
But contrary to what some netizens say about flying all that way just to cut the lock, Kassie’s trip to Korea also included sightseeing around Seoul and exploring the city as part of her plan to pursue a career as a dancer.
