Ride-hailing services have become an essential part of daily life. For passengers, they offer convenience, for drivers, that small car cabin is their “office” and their livelihood to support themselves and their families.
Recently, a bizarre and horrifying incident in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, China, sparked a wave of outrage. The story of a young female passenger, neatly dressed yet calmly defecating on the back seat before fleeing, exposed a dark side of public morality decay and selfishness among some young people today.
Horrifying behavior caught on camera leaves no room for doubt

The incident happened early morning. Chen, a middle-aged driver who works night shifts in Nanchong, accepted a short ride through the app. The passenger was a young woman, bright-looking, neatly dressed, and acting completely normal like any other rider.
What shocked everyone most was that throughout the ride, the woman happily chatted on her phone with her boyfriend, fully alert and composed. There were no signs of illness or distress, no cries for help or signals to the driver.
People often say everyone faces emergencies sometimes. If she really had a health issue, she could have apologized, asked the driver to pull over, or left contact info to cover cleaning costs. But instead, she chose the most cowardly and disgusting option: silently enduring it, pretending nothing happened, then immediately rushing out as soon as the car stopped, disappearing into the night.

When Chen turned around to prepare for his next passenger, he was stunned. What he saw was horrifying: a large amount of feces scattered all over the back seat, the foul stench quickly filling the entire car.
The heartbreaking cost for a hardworking driver when his “office” is destroyed
Outsiders might think, “Just clean it, why make a fuss?” But only those in the business understand Chen’s pain and helplessness.
Car seats aren’t flat floors, they’re made of fabric or leather covering foam padding inside. Once organic waste seeps deep into the foam, surface cleaning is useless. Chen immediately took the car to a professional auto spa for chemical cleaning and deodorizing. But the shop owner shook his head. When the car heats up from weather or warm AC, the terrible smell trapped inside the cushion will rise again, impossible to fully remove. The only solution is to replace the entire back seat.

In despair, Chen had to pay over 1,000 yuan (about 4 million VND) out of pocket to replace the seat. For wealthy people, 1,000 yuan might be a fancy meal or luxury item, but for a ride-hailing driver scraping by on small fares, it’s hard-earned money from many sleepless nights and long hours. Suddenly facing a huge financial loss and emotional insult, Chen was deeply frustrated.
Refusing to accept unfair blame and costs, Chen reported the incident and shared footage to protect himself
However, tracking down the culprit faced many legal and technical hurdles. Police investigation concluded this was a personal moral violation and property damage dispute, not a criminal case. Authorities could only mediate if the person was found, without strong enforcement powers.

Adding to the difficulty, the ride was booked by someone else through their account, who had no connection to the woman. This made identifying her even harder.
Just when Chen seemed resigned to losing money, the ride-hailing platform stepped in with a timely and compassionate move. The official representative announced they would cover 100% of the seat replacement, cleaning costs, and provide compensation for Chen’s lost workdays. The financial loss was covered, but the woman’s irresponsible behavior remained unforgivable.
The incident blew up across social media forums. Chinese netizens united in full condemnation, offering no excuses for the passenger. The unedited surveillance video showing the stylish young woman deliberately soiling the car then casually stepping out went viral fast.
Within 24 hours, her identity, photos, and shameful actions were exposed to the public, friends, and colleagues. Online users raised angry questions:
“How can someone calmly talk on the phone with their boyfriend the whole ride yet act like a wild animal in someone else’s car?”
“Beneath that youthful, clean, and fashionable appearance, why is there such a hollow soul lacking any public decency?”
“Even with the platform covering the damage, can she sleep peacefully knowing millions are disgusted by her face and actions every day?”…
