NFT, or non-fungible token, is known as a digital asset using blockchain technology that’s been booming lately. Basically, blockchain creates a unique code chain, making the digital asset one of a kind and exclusive to its owner. NFTs are even hailed as a breakthrough to stop copying and copyright theft, a headache for many right now. Many artworks, and even models or adult film stars, have started releasing photo books as NFTs. But sometimes, being too modern doesn’t always bring only good things.

Recently on Twitter, a user named SaeedDiCaprio shared a conversation where he was harshly scolded by an investor after he copied the investor’s NFT artwork. The funny part is, Saeed’s method wasn’t fancy or tech-heavy at all. He simply right-clicked the image and chose Save as… And just like that, an NFT piece got “stolen” in the most blatant way.

“Taking a screenshot of someone else’s NFT is funny, huh? Stealing property is just a joke to you? Let me tell you, blockchain doesn’t lie. I am the real owner of that artwork. Even if you save it, it’s still my property. You’re just frustrated because you can’t have what I own. Delete that screenshot right now.” – Saeed shared the message.

But Saeed didn’t really care about the criticism. In fact, he excitedly said he plans to break blockchain technology by creating an entire NFT collection just by taking screenshots with simple steps like that. Then he’d just sell them and make a profit. This shows how silly blockchain and the NFT trend can be sometimes. Keep in mind, thanks to NFTs, a jpg file once sold for 69 million USD (over 1.5 trillion VND).
