Mercury Nguyen Faces Identity Theft
It’s sadly common for celebrities and well-known figures to have their identities stolen. The damage goes beyond financial loss, seriously hurting their reputations. Mercury Nguyen, the popular and sexy esports referee, quickly spotted someone abusing her name and warned her community, but the scams kept happening.
Specifically, she shared a screenshot of the fake account with the caption: “Hey everyone, please help me report this Nguyen Chau Anh account. Someone’s been faking me to scam and damage my reputation for quite a while now.
They scammed tens of millions, but I’m the one getting asked for money. I can’t even enjoy 16 hours of gaming without this drama…” Mercury even pinned the post to the top of her profile so all her followers would see it.
Sharing this with her community helped Mercury get support and necessary assistance without harming her personal image.
Yet new victims keep appearing, causing Mercury even more headaches.
At one point, someone who was scammed even returned to the official account to leave rude comments. Losing her patience, Mercury fired back: “Why would someone fake me to scam then come to my stream to insult me? That’s so disrespectful. I’ve already warned everyone on all my socials. Are you crazy?”

Mercury Nguyen is one of the most famous referees in Vietnam’s esports scene. Despite being active for years, her popularity hasn’t faded. Her alluring, elegant, and mysterious style has earned her the nickname “goddess” among fans.

Not long ago, she posted: “Someone shy like me got rumors about working in a sensitive profession under the name Chou Anh…
When handsome guys or pretty girls ask my name, I quickly avoid them, not to mention other stories. I only started dating after I turned 18, and only if I’m the one pursuing. If the other person makes the first move, I move out immediately.
She also urged her followers: “If you see anyone using the names Chou Anh or Nguyen Chau Anh, please let me know.” The impersonator scammed Mercury’s fans. Though the amount wasn’t huge, it seriously hurt her reputation and credibility.
