Amou Haji, 87, lives alone on the edge of the small village of Dejgah in the Fars province desert of southern Iran. For 67 years, he hasn’t bathed and is known as “the dirtiest man in the world.”
His skin is covered in a thick layer of grime made up of dirt and dead skin, his eyes are nearly hidden, and his smell can be detected from a mile away.

Haji hasn’t bathed in over 60 years because he believes staying clean will make him sick. He enjoys catching porcupines and eating their meat raw, sometimes grilling it for a change.
His only prized possession is a nearly 8cm long metal pipe. Though addicted to smoking, he can’t afford tobacco, so he stuffs the pipe with dried animal dung, lights it, and smokes that instead!

Sometimes villagers bring Amou food. No one knows why he chooses this lifestyle or why he hasn’t bathed for decades.
He now holds the record for the longest time without bathing in the world. Before him, Indian man Kailash Singh, 66, held the record for 38 years without bathing.
