Streamer Pham, a mid-tier content creator, had a complicated relationship with a male fan named Gia. Their connection went beyond the usual idol-fan dynamic.
Three months ago, during a heated argument over minor issues, Gia unexpectedly bit Pham on the mouth. He was detained for 7 days and fined 200 yuan (about 700,000 VND) for assault.
Before his detention, Gia wrote Pham a handwritten letter saying, “You and I had a phone, I pushed you into the car, causing your mouth to hit the phone and bruise. I plan to pay you 100,000 yuan (about 35.5 million VND) for treatment and emotional damages.”
Medical reports showed Pham suffered swelling and pain in the soft tissue of her lower right jaw and had a skin tear. The streamer said the injury affected her live broadcasts and drastically cut her income. She demanded Gia pay the full 100,000 yuan quickly, but he only sent 5,480 yuan (around 20 million VND). She then filed a complaint with the local court.
Recently, at the court hearing, Gia was absent. His lawyer claimed the injury was caused by the phone and that Gia only wanted to pay 15 yuan in compensation.
When reporters reached out to Gia to confirm the amount, he abruptly hung up.
