In League of Legends and many other games, there’s always a toxic group of players whose most common behavior is “griefing.” This includes actions like going AFK, trash-talking, insulting teammates and opponents, and intentionally dying.

Whether we like it or not, anyone who plays games will almost certainly encounter this at least once. When it happens, aside from holding in frustration, players usually can’t do much else. Game developers include a “Report” feature, but it rarely leads to effective action.
Recently, a player spoke out about the problem of rank griefing in League of Legends. This player experienced griefing in two consecutive matches. Both ended poorly even though in the first game, they dealt the most damage. “Why aren’t these people punished? They should be permanently banned from ranked. I repeat, they don’t play seriously or try to win, so why should I have to deal with them when I put my heart into the game? I even had to encourage my team to keep trying until the very end.”

However, the international LoL community responded with indifference and frustration. Comments from players shared their own griefing experiences and how annoying and upsetting it is. Still, many admitted that griefing will never be fully solved. One player commented: “You have the right to complain, but Riot won’t do anything. They haven’t done anything about this for a long time.”

Some players advised against playing ranked during the Preseason, a time when many just experiment rather than play seriously.

For players who always try hard every match, griefing is extremely frustrating and leads to negative gaming experiences. Riot has promised to tackle this issue many times, but nothing really changes. In the end, the ones who suffer the most are the dedicated fans who love Riot’s popular “national” game.
