The Bold Public Stunt
Two years ago, the Mapo Police Department in South Korea announced an investigation into Ah In, a model and social media influencer. She went out on the streets of Hongdae wearing a cardboard box and invited passing men to touch her breasts. Police representatives said this behavior was indecent in public and could lead to up to one year in prison and fines reaching 5 million won (about 100 million VND).
Defending her controversial act, Ah In said, “I find it strange that when men take off their shirts in public, it’s considered normal, but when a woman does it, she faces criticism, bans, or even jail time. My action was a challenge to these double standards.”
When asked about strangers feeling uncomfortable touching her chest in public, Ah In said she didn’t mind: “I’m proud of my breasts and body and want to show them off. I don’t think being touched should be stigmatized or seen as taboo.”
Despite Legal Trouble, Ah In Announces Fan Meeting
Shortly after, Ah In posted on her personal page about hosting a fan meeting. The entry fee was 650,000 won (over 12 million VND), and only the first 30 people to register could meet her in person. The event included greetings, photo sessions, Q&A, and a “Angel Box” activity with a promised kiss instead of gifts.
This announcement immediately sparked controversy online. Netizens criticized Ah In for shamelessly defying the law by holding a fan meeting while under investigation for indecent behavior. Others said the ticket price was too high for someone with such a notorious reputation.
Despite harsh criticism, tickets sold out within 30 minutes.
Punishment for Indecent Behavior
Recently, Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Appeals Division 2-2 sentenced Ah In for public indecency to 8 months in prison with a 2-year suspended sentence. She must also complete a 40-hour sexual offense prevention course. Earlier, the first trial had fined her 4 million won (over 76 million VND).
Additionally, another defendant involved in promotion received 10 months in prison with a 2-year suspended sentence. A third defendant, who came up with the idea, was sentenced to 1 year in prison with a 2-year suspension. Both faced higher fines than in the initial trial, 5 million won and 4 million won respectively.
Notably, Ah In is also accused of drug possession and is facing a separate case at the same court.
