JVevermind, whose real name is Trần Đức Việt, was born in 1992 in Hanoi. He was one of the most famous names among Vietnam’s first generation of vloggers. The nickname JVevermind was created before he went to study in the US. When you combine JV, it looks like a stylized N, so the nickname actually means Nevermind.
His unique, edgy vlogs with sharp satire on topics like being single, obsessive Kpop fans, English banter, and keyboard warriors earned him huge love and support from the online community. JVevermind was even called a ‘legend’ among early Vietnamese vloggers.
BRIGHT SPOT IN HIS 20S
While studying communications in the US, Trần Đức Việt started making vlogs on YouTube. In a short time, his channel hit 121 million views and 1.6 million subscribers. He was one of the first Vietnamese YouTubers to receive the YouTube Gold Play Button, becoming a sought-after name for big brand partnerships and business projects. The peak of his vlogging career came in 2015 when he made Forbes Vietnam’s “30 Under 30” list of outstanding young faces under 30. The following year, 2016, he was also named in Forbes Asia’s “30 Under 30” in Media, Advertising, and Entertainment. In 2017, JVevermind won the Influence Asia Award for Best Personality.

At the height of his career, JVevermind suddenly chose to step back from the spotlight. He disappeared and completely stopped all activity on his personal pages, social media, and YouTube. He shared that even while vlogging, he felt something was missing from the platform, and continuing would mean staying stuck without personal growth.

During this time, he also faced personal losses, including family hardships and a breakup with his longtime girlfriend Mie Nguyễn. These events seemed to push him to end his vlogging career. JVevermind vanished from the media, released no new content, and his Instagram stayed inactive for years. By late 2018, after a long freeze, all his social media content quietly disappeared. Nearly 50 videos with millions of views vanished completely from YouTube. His official Instagram was wiped clean, with zero posts. He officially went into hiding.
JV’S RETURN WITH A FILM VIBE, THEN DISAPPEARS AGAIN
Despite fans’ desperate calls, it wasn’t until 2019 that JVevermind shared glimpses of his current life. He focused on personal experiences, traveling, trying new jobs, and his passion for football. He said he didn’t want to get caught up in chasing money and fame but wanted to find balance and enjoy the values of youth.
JVevermind said, “All the success from my vlogging days is old history. I erased it to remind myself not to ‘beg’ off the past.” So for his comeback, he shortened his name to JV, signaling a fresh start.
In October 2019, JV released a cinematic short film called “No Footprints Left,” marking a new, edgier, and more mature chapter at age 27. Impressively, JV took on four roles at once: director, writer, producer, and lead actor.

Gone was the witty, ever-changing vlogger. In “No Footprints Left,” JV played a successful businessman sharing deep thoughts on success and life.
He also created a new series called “Sleepless Weekends,” a satirical news show about hot social issues. The goal was to entertain young viewers while raising awareness about society, life, education, law, and the world in a funny, lighthearted way. His sharp vlogs like “Multi-level Marketing 4.0,” “Youth and Stimulants,” and “Regular vs. Specialized Schools” drew massive engagement with hundreds of thousands to millions of views and thousands of comments.
Alongside this, JV returned as a reviewer of Vietnamese local brand products, earning praise from fans for his honest and thoughtful evaluations.
However, fans’ joy was short-lived. The 30-year-old disappeared again soon after. His last vlog was posted in late December 2020. Nearly two years later, his YouTube channel with over 2 million subscribers remains inactive. His personal Facebook posts during this time have been very sparse.
Many feel sorry for JVevermind, who left at the peak of his fame without pushing further. But he clearly knows what he wants and what choices to make. Hopefully, he will return soon and update his fans who have followed him for years.
