On the morning of September 13, Apple officially released iOS 16 for compatible iPhone models. At the same time, iOS 15.7 was also rolled out for older iPhone versions.
As a major update from Apple after several years, iOS 16 stands out with changes to the lock screen, customizable fonts, new widgets, and performance improvements. However, users have reported some puzzling bugs with this update.
According to 9to5Mac, many iPhone users experienced issues accessing the App Store. They reported being unable to install app updates. When opening the App Store, users were prompted to agree to new terms of service, but after tapping agree, random error messages appeared.
In Vietnam, many users have updated to iOS 16. Most are excited about the smooth performance and new features, but some bugs and instability remain.
“I noticed the navigation bar freezes when entering my password on my iPhone 11 Pro,” said M.Anh after upgrading to iOS 16. “The battery also drains faster after the update.”
Many Vietnamese iPhone users also reported that the AssistiveTouch button freezes after updating. Meanwhile, keyboard freezing issues have not been fully resolved.
“The AssistiveTouch button often freezes and won’t move,” shared Quoc Anh after upgrading his iPhone 13 Pro Max to iOS 16.
For this issue, iPhone users are advised to toggle AssistiveTouch off and on again in Accessibility settings to fix the annoying bug.
Besides minor bugs that don’t heavily impact user experience, a more serious problem reported by some users is signal loss or unstable cellular reception after updating.
This isn’t the first time iPhones have faced issues after a major iOS update. Last year, many iPhones lost cellular signal after upgrading to iOS 15.
Experts recommend affected users try restarting their devices or performing a factory reset while waiting for Apple to release a fix. However, be sure to back up all important data to iCloud or a computer before resetting.
Since iOS 15, users can choose to stay on the older iOS version even after a new one is released. Staying on iOS 15 means you’ll still get important security patches but won’t have access to iOS 16’s new features. Of course, users can upgrade to iOS 16 anytime they want.
