iOS 16 is Apple’s latest update for iPhones, bringing major changes to features like the Lock Screen, Messages, and Maps. But even after nearly two weeks since its release, many users are still reporting problems, ranging from slow performance to battery drain after updating.
Notably, some iPhone 14 Pro owners, Apple’s newest model, have reported unique issues affecting only this device. These include camera shake when using third-party apps, failure to activate iMessage and FaceTime, and more.
Meanwhile, other problems affect users across different iPhone models. It’s normal for battery to drain faster right after an update due to background tasks and indexing. However, some users on Twitter, MacRumors, and Reddit have shared that their battery life is unusually poor after updating to iOS 16. One user even said their iPhone gets extremely hot during use.
On the flip side, some users say their battery life feels better compared to iOS 15. Apple has acknowledged that enabling keyboard haptic feedback in iOS 16 can drain battery, so users might want to try turning off this feature.
Another issue reported is slower Spotlight search. Some users say it can take up to 10 seconds to load results on iOS 16, and sometimes it doesn’t load at all. They note that search was almost instant on iOS 15.6. Even resetting settings and restoring from iCloud backups hasn’t fixed the problem for some.
In response to user complaints, Apple promises a new update next week. iOS 16.0.2 will include fixes for the iPhone 14 Pro camera shake, annoying copy/paste alerts, and problems with activating iMessage and FaceTime.
