According to Indonesia’s Wahana News, a 26-year-old man named A.K was recently arrested by police at a hotel in Dongchikarang, West Java, Indonesia, accused of forcing his girlfriend into prostitution at least 17 times to make money.
Police revealed that A.K lured his girlfriend, identified only as D.A.A, 25, into prostitution by promising marriage but using the excuse of “not having wedding money” to persuade her.
A.K exploited his girlfriend by arranging for her to sell sex through dating apps to other men. For each transaction, A.K received 500,000 rupiah (about 800,000 VND) and reportedly threatened or assaulted her if she refused to comply.
The couple started dating about six months ago, but the coercion and threats escalated sharply over the past two months. In total, A.K forced his girlfriend into prostitution at least 17 times.
Unable to endure the violence and psychological pressure, the victim finally gathered the courage to report A.K to authorities. Police quickly arrested A.K and confiscated his phone along with all messages from the dating app as evidence.
“Our officers posed as clients on the app the suspect used. A.K’s motive was to raise money for the wedding. But his method was exploiting his girlfriend for profit,” said Police Chief AKP Sugiharto.
During questioning, A.K claimed his girlfriend agreed to the prostitution, but the victim strongly denied this. He is now under investigation for assault and pimping. If convicted, he could face up to 16 months in prison.
