Recently, a bunch of famous Facebook accounts, including streamer Độ Mixi, U23 Vietnam footballer Nhâm Mạnh Dũng, Phan Tuấn Tài, plus Miss H’Hen Nie and runner-up Phương Nga, have all had their names hacked and changed to strange ones.
Even verified accounts with blue checkmarks have been targeted, causing a stir online. Recently, Hiếu PC spoke out about this issue:
“Regarding the recent name changes on Facebook of many influencers like footballers and beauty queens,
this is a warning for all Facebook users to avoid having your name changed by bad actors to something unwanted, which can harm your reputation and cause embarrassment. Please follow these steps:
1. Never reveal the email linked to your Facebook on any platform.
2. If your email has been leaked, switch to a new email used only for Facebook.
3. Hide all sensitive personal info, don’t share sensitive details on Facebook or elsewhere, and follow additional security tips in the comments below.
4. If your name has already been changed without your consent, follow the instructions in the comments.”
Here’s how Hiếu PC suggests you recover your original Facebook name if it’s been hacked and changed:
“How to change your name back if it was changed without your control:
1. If it’s been less than 48 hours since the change, go to settings to revert to your old name.
2. If it’s been more than 48 hours, log into your account on a browser and visit: https://www.facebook.com/help. Fill in your full name and upload a front photo of your ID card. Your name should be approved within 1 to 24 hours.”
