Recently, a video went viral on social media showing a 28-year-old YouTuber named K. sharing how she makes money on Tinder. The clip was originally posted on December 8, 2022, titled “How I Made Money on Tinder.”
K. starts by saying, “A lot of people wonder how I’ve managed to live in Hanoi all these years without a job, how I pay for daily expenses. I want to share that one way I make money is through Tinder and dating apps. I want to let you know how I’ve lived.”
She admits she’s not conventionally attractive, doesn’t know how to take good photos, and is camera shy. So on Tinder, she uses funny memes and a playful profile description to stand out and attract guys who are funny, wealthy, or educated.
“I just use everything I have and all my abilities to make money. Because I have to live, right? I can’t live without money,” K. says confidently.
More specifically, K. reveals four ways she earns money on Tinder.
1/ Daily Cash
K. explains this is money she gets daily. For example, when meeting a guy, she asks him to pay for her ride home or says, “I don’t have cash on me, can you give me 200,000 VND and I’ll transfer it back?” The amount varies between 200,000 to 500,000 VND, and no guy ever asks for the money back.
“Meeting one person a day or one every two days, I can make a few million VND a month. That’s enough to live on, right? So that’s my daily cash, and I have to be proactive. The more people I meet, the more money I make.”
2/ Profile Writing and Chatting Fees
For this, K. charges guys by helping them write attractive profiles to get more matches, advising on photos and descriptions that girls like. After she finishes, they often send her money as a thank you.
Another guy who admits he’s bad at talking to girls asks K. to swipe and chat for him. He doesn’t pay money but sends her lots of fruit and snacks daily. “During that month, I always had so much food I had to share it with people around me,” K. says.
3/ Unexpected Windfalls
K. calls this irregular money that comes just when she needs it, like a gift from above helping her survive.
“Once I was meeting a guy at a cafe. He texted saying he’d be late and asked if I could wait. I told him I’d charge 100,000 VND per minute. He was 30 minutes late and gave me 3 million VND.”
She recalls this was when she had no money and desperately needed cash. The man offered to continue the date for more money, but she declined.
4/ Lunar New Year Money
This is money K. makes during Tet, especially after the holiday. When everyone returns to work, she swipes Tinder the most, matching with as many people as possible.
At each date, she brings a stack of lucky money envelopes with 20,000 VND inside and gives them out first. The guys are usually surprised and return the favor with red envelopes of at least 200,000 VND, sometimes up to 1 million VND. “I put in 20,000 VND and get back 500,000 VND. The more people I meet, the more money I make. After Tet, I earn a few million to keep living.”
In summary, K. says she has other ways to make money on Tinder, like guys who have never met her or seen her face but still transfer money.
Proudly, she claims not everyone can do this. It requires reading the situation, knowing which guys are potential, and when to say the right thing. “It’s something I was born with. I know how to sense who’s a good target, who I can use which approach on, who I can say certain things to… It all starts with being able to talk.”

Although the clip is nearly four months old, it only recently caught the public’s attention, sparking strong backlash. Most comments express anger and harsh criticism. People say K. promotes a toxic mindset, living off others, and exploiting guys for money. Young girls unaware of right and wrong could be misled and make mistakes.
