On December 12, ETToday reported that to test her boyfriend’s loyalty, a girl named La from Nansong town, Sichuan Province, China, came up with a wild plan. She asked her best friend to tie her to a tree in a remote mountain forest. Then, that friend would pretend to be a kidnapper demanding ransom from La’s boyfriend.
The biggest surprise came right after the friend left the forest. La started feeling scared and worried she might run into a real kidnapper, so she began crying and shouting for help.
According to Chinese media, at 11 PM on November 26, police received a report from a man named Liu. He said he got a call from a stranger demanding 50,000 RMB (over 7,600 USD) ransom to release his girlfriend La. Despite being stressed, Liu decided to call the police.
While police were planning their investigation and tracking La’s last known location, local residents reported hearing a woman screaming for help in a nearby forest.
Police immediately connected this to Liu’s kidnapping report and quickly sent officers up the mountain to search. They successfully rescued La, who was tied to a tree.

But when asked to describe the kidnapper, La gave confusing and inconsistent answers. At first, police thought she was just too scared, but the truth shocked both the officers and Liu.
It turned out the entire kidnapping was La’s plan to test her boyfriend. To make it more believable, she chose a remote mountain forest and gave her phone to her friend to demand ransom.
However, things didn’t go as planned. While tied alone to the tree in the quiet forest, La became terrified she might encounter a real gang. Plus, the cold night made it worse. That’s why she broke down crying and loudly called for help.
Currently, La and her best friend have been temporarily detained by police for disturbing public order.
