As we know, Genshin Impact has three types of levels: character level, currently capped at 90, adventure rank, capped at 60, and world level, capped at 8. Nearly two years after launch, Mihoyo still hasn’t shown any plans to raise these limits. Right now, the biggest topic among players is when their characters might finally break through the level 100 barrier.

From a game environment perspective, this seems possible since some enemies on floor 12 of the Spiral Abyss already hit level 100, meaning character levels could theoretically reach 100 too. Of course, this doesn’t mean an update is coming soon. Just look at Honkai Impact 3, another Mihoyo title, which only raised the commander level while character levels remain capped at 80. Honkai Impact 3 launched well before Genshin Impact, so that says a lot. If Mihoyo follows the same path, instead of unlocking level 100 characters, they might just buff older characters to balance power.

If level 100 unlocks do happen, many characters thought to be outdated, like Keqing and Diluc, could get a major comeback with boosts to their stats, attributes, and overall power. But Mihoyo might not want this since new character banners keep rolling out and are more popular, which means more revenue for them rather than balancing old characters.

For players, unlocking level 100 characters would have a huge impact. On the plus side, older characters could finally shine again, improving team strength significantly. On the downside, the resources needed for such breakthroughs would skyrocket. Just look at how much more it takes to ascend from level 80 to 90, and imagine the jump to 100. Since Mihoyo still limits resin and resource availability, building a full level 100 team would be extremely challenging.

In fact, many players are even opposing the idea of unlocking level 100. They believe that opening this level cap could signal a serious decline for Genshin Impact.
