But that move was called out as really dumb and dangerous. A damaged lithium battery can heat up to 537 degrees Celsius in seconds, so using your foot to put out the fire is a huge risk, as shown in the photo below.
Some advice from others was to use sand to smother the fire next time instead of stomping it out, cutting off oxygen to the flames. But honestly, there probably won’t be a next time. This battery fire didn’t cause major damage but was scary enough to warn this gamer and many others. If you ever need to replace your battery again, it’s best to just go to a professional. Battery fires from lithium cells are rare but real, so don’t risk using cheap, unbranded parts. Spending a bit more on an official battery is always the safer bet.
