Sometimes doctors face some pretty bizarre cases. Some people even have unusual habits that lead to unexpected emergencies, like the guy in this story who begged doctors to save him after swallowing an entire Nokia phone.
The story was shared by Dr. Skender Telaku. Not long ago, he treated a patient complaining of severe stomach pain for four days. After checking symptoms that didn’t match common illnesses, Dr. Skender decided to do an endoscopy. And to everyone’s shock, there was a whole Nokia phone inside the guy’s stomach.
Since phone batteries contain acid, Dr. Skender was worried it could leak and threaten the patient’s life. He quickly consulted his team to remove the phone. Using specialized tools, they carefully cut the phone into three parts and extracted each piece with forceps. Dr. Skender said the battery was the most dangerous part because it could explode or leak acid at any moment. It took two hours to completely remove the phone. The reason behind the guy’s reckless act remains unclear.
Apparently, swallowing phones isn’t unheard of. Not long ago, a man from Aswan in southern Egypt shocked doctors even more by admitting he had swallowed a phone six months earlier, curious to see if it would pass through his digestive system.
The result? His abdominal cavity became severely infected. If he had waited any longer, it could have been life-threatening.
