Thousands of drones recently put on a one-of-a-kind show over Shanghai’s skyline when publisher Bilibili arranged them to form a giant QR code. What’s cool is that this QR code wasn’t just for show. People could scan it with their smartphones to download Princess Connect! Re:Dive, a mobile game Bilibili launched in China.

Besides the QR code, the drones were programmed to create various images and messages, including characters from Princess Connect! Re:Dive and scenes of those characters battling monsters in the game.
Bilibili organized this drone show to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Princess Connect! Re’s release in mainland China. Many players who watched the display praised Bilibili for going all out with this impressive stunt.
Interestingly, this wasn’t Bilibili’s first time using a giant QR code to promote a game. The company previously installed a huge QR code next to their building to mark the launch of Princess Connect! Re.
Princess Connect! Re is a mobile RPG with gacha elements, available on iOS and Android. Developed by Cygames, known for hits like Fate/Grand Order, the game first launched in Japan three years ago. It arrived in China in April last year and went global in January 2021.
