According to the New York Post, one of Elon Musk’s children recently filed legal documents to change their name and distance themselves from their biological father. These papers were submitted to a Los Angeles court as part of the child’s ongoing legal requests.
The legal documents specifically request recognition of a gender change and a new birth certificate. Originally named Xavier Musk by Elon Musk, the individual, now 18, has asked to change their name to Vivian Jenna Wilson. They have completely removed Musk from their name, adopting Wilson, their mother’s surname. They also want to be legally recognized as female after transitioning.
“I want to change my gender identity. Furthermore, I no longer live with or want any relationship of any kind with my biological father,” the filing states. However, it does not explain why they want to sever ties with the billionaire father.
Elon Musk has seven children in total. Five children, including Xavier (now Vivian), are from his marriage to Canadian author Justin Wilson, which lasted from 2000 to 2008. Currently, Musk is dating singer Grimes, with whom he has two children: X AE A-XI and Exa Dark Sideræl.
