The world’s richest billionaire Elon Musk has officially denied reports about a “brief relationship” with the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin. Elon stated, “I work crazy hours, so there’s not much time for shenanigans.”
Elon even compared the news reports about the incident to “sandwich meat.”
Earlier, Elon Musk was accused of having a “brief affair” with Nicole Shanahan, the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin. The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday (July 24, local time) that Musk had a romantic relationship with Shanahan in December 2021, which eventually led to their divorce.
The alleged affair between Elon and his friend’s wife reportedly happened around the same time Musk, who has 10 children from various relationships, welcomed his 7-month-old daughter Exa Dark with singer Grimes.
The Wall Street Journal also explained that as a result of the affair, Musk, who had been close friends with Brin for years and reportedly borrowed about $500,000 from him during the 2008 financial crisis, has stopped communicating with Brin. Brin is said to be planning to sell his personal investments in Musk’s companies following the incident.
The Wall Street Journal reported: “According to people close to both men, tensions have been rising between them and their teams in recent months. Mr. Brin has instructed his financial advisors to sell his personal stakes in Mr. Musk’s companies. It’s unclear how large those investments are or if the sales will go through.”
The Wall Street Journal stated that they reached out to all parties involved for comment on the allegations, but none responded.
Back in January 2022, Brin cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce and noted that December 15, 2021, was their official separation date. News of the alleged affair surfaced just weeks after Shanahan expressed hope to continue the divorce with “dignity, honesty, and harmony.”
She said, “I hope Sergey and I can move forward with dignity, honesty, and harmony for the sake of our child. And we are both working toward that.”
Musk took to Twitter to respond to the WSJ report, saying, “Sergey and I are friends and attended a party together last night! I’ve only met Nicole twice in three years, both times with many others around. Nothing romantic.”
