Couple Joins Dating Show
After several failed relationships, 36-year-old T.H and 30-year-old K.T joined a dating show hoping to find the right partner and eventually get married.
The woman works as an office employee in Ho Chi Minh City. She describes herself as emotional, caring, a good listener, and able to cook. Sometimes she can be a bit hot-tempered. Having been through two relationships, the longest lasting seven years, she was disappointed when her ex didn’t want to move toward marriage, so they broke up. After years of being single, she decided to open her heart and look for a boyfriend through the matchmaking show.
Meanwhile, the man is self-employed. He says his strengths include doing housework, grocery shopping, and cooking. He doesn’t smoke or drink alcohol. He’s had two relatively short relationships before. He joined the show to find a girlfriend with the goal of marriage.
At first, it seemed like they shared the same views and goals for dating, and things looked promising. But what happened next left both sides disappointed.
Couple Sparks Heated Argument Over “Dating Expenses”
The man honestly shared that in the past, he was taken advantage of by a girlfriend who often made him pay for meals. When he ran out of money, she turned her back on him. Because of that, he’s afraid of meeting someone like that again. Still, he insisted he has enough money to support a girlfriend but if money is tight, she could chip in.
The woman disagreed. She believes a confident man should be generous with money. “Don’t bring up your past when talking about dating expenses like that,” she said.
Things heated up when they discussed who should pay during dates. The man surprised her by asking, “If we meet three times a week, and I pay for two times while you pay for one, would you agree? And if one of those meals is expensive, can we split the bill?”
She fired back, “Why should we split?”
Seeing the argument getting intense, the host invited both to sit down for a serious talk.
In the end, neither of them chose to continue dating. The man said he didn’t press the button because he thought she wouldn’t. The woman was disappointed, feeling he lacked conviction since he initially said he wanted to date her.
