Although often called a “dead game” in Vietnam due to rampant hacking issues, Call of Duty Mobile is still officially running. Recent positive updates feel like a boost, soothing the hearts of loyal fans.
Specifically, the newly updated character skin resembles a Marine Corps uniform, sparking a wave of national pride among players.
“Every Vietnamese COD player has to get this skin,”
“It looks better and more stylish than previous characters,”
“Just seeing it makes me hear the music in my head”…

Some users also commented, “The real-life model looks great, but the in-game version isn’t quite right yet.”
But that’s not all. Besides constructive feedback, the post attracted some negative comments, likely from rival game communities. One even mocked, “CODM is just a fashion game,” which fired up dedicated fans. They fired back, accusing the top-downloaded survival shooter of 2019: “Free Fire is the real fashion game. PUBG too. CODM just has characters in military uniforms!”

Notably, this exchange happened in a private Call of Duty Mobile community group, making such comments feel like they were deliberately stirring offline player conflicts.
The “external enemies” aren’t the only problem. Internal critics also frustrate admins with pessimistic remarks like “This page is going downhill. They approve nonsense posts. The game keeps lagging and they don’t bother banning hackers.”

Vietnamese gamers are well familiar with Call of Duty Mobile, the blockbuster shooter backed by Activision and Tencent, and published locally by VNG. It was once expected to be a top-tier mobile shooter.

However, Call of Duty Mobile only briefly shined before quickly fading due to issues that spiraled beyond the developer’s control.
