Recently, the engagement ceremony of bride N.D and groom T.P in Tây Ninh caught the attention of many online users. According to the groom’s family, the bride refused to proceed with the ceremony because the groom’s side didn’t bring the full promised dowry of 3.3 taels of gold and 50 million VND, leaving the event incomplete.
It’s known that the groom had promised the bride before the engagement to give 3.3 taels of gold and 50 million VND. However, when the ceremony took place, the groom’s family only brought about half of that, including a pair of 1-chi 24K gold earrings, a 5-chi 24K gold necklace, two 12-chi 18K gold bracelets, and 40 million VND.
The groom’s family also explained that his parents passed away early, so only relatives like uncles and aunts represented the family at the ceremony. Despite their advice and pleas due to the groom’s difficult situation, the bride firmly refused to accept the reduced dowry. This led to the ceremony being paused, and the groom’s side left so the couple could discuss and resolve the matter privately.
