Late on September 28, a viral clip showed a chaotic scene outside bar 1900 on Ta Hien Street in Hanoi, grabbing a lot of attention online. After being escorted out of the bar, the woman took off her shirt and lay down in the middle of the street.
The person who posted the clip quoted the woman’s words: “She said, ‘They charged me 150,000 VND for the entrance, then wouldn’t let me drink. They kicked me out but didn’t return my 150,000. I’ll call the police, I have nothing to lose.’ Then she started stripping to make a scene.”
“People watching said she was causing trouble inside the bar, so they kicked her out and gave her the 150,000 VND back, but she kept yelling and refused to leave, so some guys carried her to the police station.”
Watching the clip, after four young men believed to be bar staff carried her outside and left her lying in the street, the woman quickly got up and argued, “No, give me 110,000 VND and I’ll go home.” At that moment, a woman outside shouted back, “They already gave you the full amount, but you still come back asking for more.”
After a loud argument outside the bar failed to resolve anything, the woman stripped off her clothes and lay down in the street, ignoring the crowd watching and filming her.
While crying, the woman shouted loudly, “I told them if they gave me 110,000 VND, I’d leave, but they didn’t. Fine, I’m not allowed to drink. I wasn’t allowed to drink… 11 drinks I couldn’t have.” Her rambling, sometimes hoarse shouting while half-naked on the street made many bystanders shake their heads in disbelief.
Soon after, because of the noise disturbing other customers, bar staff came over and gently pulled her away from the entrance.
Once the clip spread on social media, it quickly caught the public’s attention. While it’s unclear who was right or wrong, many criticized the woman’s public stripping as inappropriate. Some suggested she was likely drunk and not in full control of her actions.
In response to the incident, a representative from bar 1900 told us the social media claim that they kicked out a paying customer is false.
They explained the woman arrived early but caused trouble and threw a tantrum inside. After warnings failed, the bar had to have staff escort her out to avoid disturbing others.
“We were very gentle, but she kept making a scene and rolling on the floor, scaring other customers,” the representative said.
The Hang Buom ward police quickly arrived to handle the situation, and the woman left shortly after.
