In the PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) gaming community, it’s not uncommon for popular streamers and hosts to get their accounts banned over cheating suspicions. But a recent scandal has pushed this stereotype to a whole new level, shaking the entire esports scene.

All eyes are on Lin Yu, a well-known PUBG streamer. He just received a staggering 100-year ban on his account. What’s shocking isn’t just the huge value of the banned account, but also Lin Yu’s defiant attitude and jaw-dropping statement made live on stream.

The 100-Year Ban and a High-Value Account

The drama began during one of Lin Yu’s PUBG livestreams a few days ago. Just as the match was getting intense with thousands watching, Lin Yu’s screen suddenly froze. The game system notified him that his account was frozen.

The ban duration displayed: 100 years.

In PUBG circles, a “100-year” ban is basically a death sentence for an account, signaling a serious violation of game rules, usually linked to cheating software.

Things quickly escalated into a media nightmare when the true owner of the banned account was revealed. The 100-year banned account wasn’t Lin Yu’s personal one but a super-powerful “War God” account valued at around 160,000 yuan (over 620 million VND). Even more shocking, this account belonged to a major sponsor who owns the streaming room Lin Yu works in. Losing such a valuable account owned by his own backer turned Lin Yu into the center of online backlash.

The Shocking Statement

Usually, when streamers get banned live, they either stay silent, end the stream, or try to explain it as a system error. But Lin Yu took a self-destructive route nobody expected.

When viewers kept demanding answers and mocking the 100-year ban, Lin Yu didn’t back down or show fear. Instead, he fired back with a jaw-dropping line: “How can you play this game if you don’t hack?”

This comment was basically an indirect admission that cheating is necessary to play PUBG. His words added fuel to the fire, turning a simple ban into a serious ethical crisis in the streaming world.

A Late Apology

Under massive pressure and a wave of backlash, Lin Yu finally dropped his arrogant attitude. Recently, he posted a public apology on social media to calm fans and try to save his career.

In his statement, Lin Yu admitted he “lost control of his emotions” during the incident and while interacting with viewers on stream. He apologized to fans and the streaming room owner for causing unnecessary damage.

However, the public reaction to his apology was cold and angry. Netizens quickly pointed out that Lin Yu seemed to be just scratching the surface. The core issue remains unresolved: whether he actually used hacks that caused the 160,000 yuan account to be banned. Lin Yu has yet to clearly admit or deny this.

His vague and evasive response made many see the apology as fake, aimed only at keeping his streaming income.

How to Play Without Cheating

Lin Yu’s scandal exposed a painful truth: Is PUBG so tough that even pro streamers think “you can’t play without hacking”? The answer is definitely no.

For genuine players, maintaining a clean gaming environment and improving real skills is the heart of esports. To enjoy PUBG without cheating, players should focus on:

Training real reflexes and game sense: PUBG demands sharp hearing (footsteps, gunshots) and recoil control. Spending time practicing weapon recoil in training rooms gives a real sense of victory far beyond any cheat tool.

Building strategy and teamwork: Instead of trying to solo carry with cheats, smart movement with teammates, choosing safe zones, and managing supplies well are the keys to becoming a legit champion.

Rejecting toxic behavior: Players must say no to third-party cheat software. The community should actively report suspicious accounts to help developers clean up the game.

A streamer’s fame is built on audience trust and genuine skill. Lin Yu’s reckless cheating using his sponsor’s expensive account and his defiant words serve as a costly lesson in arrogance. While the 160,000 yuan account may be banned for 100 years, the trust fans had in Lin Yu likely vanished the moment he said, “you can’t play without hacking.”
