A disturbing dating violence case recently unfolded in Busan, South Korea, leaving the public shocked and outraged.
A 60-year-old man repeatedly terrorized his girlfriend both mentally and physically, threatening her with weapons to force her to write a will, then ambushing, imprisoning, and brutally assaulting her for hours.

The Cunning Nature of the Perpetrator
Court records show the accused, Mr. A, and the victim, Ms. B, started dating through a mutual acquaintance. After some time, noticing troubling signs and Mr. A’s extreme behavior, Ms. B chose to avoid him and cut off contact to end the toxic relationship. But instead of calming down, Mr. A’s selfish and violent tendencies only grew stronger.
In July 2023, Mr. A crafted a deceptive plan. He called Ms. B, pretending to be seriously injured and unable to move, begging her to come to his home in Yeonje-gu, Busan, for help.
Out of compassion and trust, Ms. B went to his place unaware of the trap awaiting her. As soon as she entered, Mr. A locked the door, changed his expression, and pulled out a weapon to threaten her. Under duress, Ms. B was forced to write a will handing over all her assets and belongings to his control.
The Peak of Brutality
Ms. B’s nightmare didn’t end there. Around May 2024, nearly a year after the forced will, Mr. A escalated his violent campaign.
Knowing Ms. B’s schedule, he hid near the stairs by her apartment in Yeonje-gu. When she stepped outside, he suddenly attacked, slapping her hard and forcing her back inside.
Once inside, Mr. A grabbed and confiscated her phone to cut off any chance of calling for help. For two hours trapped there, Ms. B endured relentless beatings, slaps, and harsh verbal abuse from her ex.
The continuous assault caused severe physical and emotional damage.
On June 18, 2024, Mr. A returned again. Taking advantage of Ms. B’s absence, he repeatedly tried the front door password until he gained entry. After breaking in, he changed the door code to lock her out, then lived in her home as if it was his own for a whole month.
A Just Sentence
Mr. A’s crimes were calculated and deceitful, using weapons to strip away Ms. B’s freedom and force her to sign over assets. Prosecutors also revealed he has a complex criminal record and committed these recent violent acts while under probation for a previous offense.
Throughout the trial, Mr. A showed no genuine remorse and received no forgiveness from Ms. B. A strict prison sentence was necessary to serve as a warning.
The 1 year and 10 months prison term not only punishes the perpetrator and delivers justice to the victim but also sends a strong message from law enforcement against dating violence. Everyone in a relationship deserves safety and respect for their life and dignity.
