Remember the infamous blue and black versus white and gold dress that drove the internet crazy?

That dress sparked huge debates online about its true color. Some swore it was blue and black, others insisted it was white and gold, and nobody had vision problems. Even after it was confirmed the dress was actually blue and black, the argument kept going strong all the way to 2021.
But the internet hasn’t just freaked out over this dress. There have been plenty of other images that confuse people because they look one way but actually aren’t. Here are five of the most mind-boggling examples.
1. Is this a color photo?

Actually, no! It’s a black and white photo with colored stripes overlaid. Your brain automatically fills in the gaps with matching colors, so you end up seeing a full color image even though it’s not.
2. Photoshop?

This photo has been going viral recently. It first appeared on Twitter from a user named Holly McKee, taken as she walked past a kids’ clothing stall in a mall.
At first glance, it looks like the photo was color edited or the camera somehow removed color from part of the frame. But no, the camera is normal and no edits were made. The store simply arranged all the clothes in dull, muted tones with no bright colors to trick our eyes.

3. The cat on the paper is “watching” you
This is a lost cat poster, but no matter what angle you look at it from, the cat in the photo seems to be following you.
That’s because the paper is taped onto a corrugated metal surface that isn’t flat, so the image shifts depending on your viewpoint.
4. Helicopter flying with blades that don’t spin
What do you think when you see this helicopter? Some kind of magic trick where the blades don’t move but it still flies?
Don’t believe it? Check out the video below.

Pretty wild, right? It’s actually a visual illusion caused by the rotor blades spinning at the same speed as the camera’s frame rate. This makes the blades look like they’re standing still even though they’re spinning fast enough to keep the helicopter in the air.
5. Kendall Jenner’s invisible leg

This photo was posted on Instylemagazine’s Instagram featuring three famous Western celebrities: Hailey Baldwin (now Justin Bieber’s wife), Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner. But what caught everyone’s attention wasn’t the trio, it was Kendall’s missing leg.
After a moment of confusion, people realized her leg was actually there, hidden under the beautiful yellow dress.
If you look closely, you can see she’s twisted her knee to the right and crossed her right leg, while leaning toward the camera to stand out more. That’s what creates this tricky visual illusion.
