Obesity has become a major concern for many parents these days. A recent story about Xu Zhoulei, a 14-year-old boy who weighs a staggering 180kg, more than ten times his age, is causing a stir online.

Recently, a YouTube documentary about Xu Zhoulei went viral. Diagnosed with extreme obesity at just 14 years old, Xu weighs 180kg. From a young age, he had a huge appetite, eating anything and everything quickly, and his body grew at an alarming rate compared to his peers. What seemed like a good sign turned out to be the start of a tragic journey for Xu and his family.

At an age when kids are supposed to be growing and developing, Xu’s weight is double or triple that of a typical child. He’s constantly hungry and needs to eat seven meals a day. Sometimes, he can eat as many as 18 bowls of ramen in one sitting. His parents say that if they reduce his food even slightly, he quickly becomes upset and uncontrollable. His obesity has also caused high blood pressure and bowed knees, making it extremely difficult for him to move around.

Xu’s father says he wants his son to go on a diet for health reasons, but it seems impossible. Feeding Xu seven to eight times more than a normal person is a huge financial burden for the family. At times, his eating habits are so overwhelming that his parents have had to ask for help just to provide his meals.
Medical tests revealed that Xu suffers from a rare genetic disorder caused by a chromosomal abnormality. This condition makes him feel hungry immediately after eating, leading to extreme obesity. He is now preparing for stomach reduction surgery to treat his condition.
