Back in early 2021, Free Fire fans still remember the Hero Team’s hit MV Hero Đại Chiến Free Fire.
As soon as the “masterpiece” dropped, it quickly went viral in the Vietnamese gaming community, not just for its meaningful lyrics and the team’s vibe, but also for the performance by female streamer Simmy. Her rap went like this:
“Let me introduce myself, my name is Simmy. Cute and lively is my style. Any enemy trying to take me down better watch out for Tairon’s gun first.”
With her fresh rap style and somewhat raw voice, Simmy got a lot of criticism for being the weakest rapper in the MV. Many said right from the start she sounded like she was just reading the lyrics instead of rapping. Even though the lyrics were solid, her voice didn’t quite fit the overall vibe, which led to plenty of online backlash. From there, fans started comparing Simmy’s rap skills to fellow streamer Cô Ngân TV.
Since gaining more attention, this gamer rapper has come a long way.
She’s been working hard to improve and prove herself in her craft. In 2023, Simmy boldly joined TikTok’s Master 2023 competition and made a strong impression.
In episode 2, she even gave a rose and confessed to judge ViruSs, but he playfully put her on the spot. He bluntly said, “My type is sexy girls who can keep me happy. You gotta find ways to change your outfit and hairstyle to be sexier… I’m the King, so you gotta ‘spoil’ me to get the ‘sunset’…”
This put Simmy in a tricky spot, but with encouragement from judge Huỳnh Lập to “just be yourself and do what you love,” she handled it smoothly. She still gave ViruSs a rose, dressed in a bold, edgy outfit, and made it clear she just wanted to give the flower, not to “spoil” him.
ViruSs eventually backed down and congratulated her on the playful moment.
